WBETH on BSC: staked ETH exposure in a token

WBETH is a value-accruing ETH staking token. Its unit is not permanently equal to one ETH, and holding it on BSC does not create native ETH on Ethereum. A quote should identify both the wrapper being sold and the network receiving the output.

Binance's current WBETH FAQ explains that staking rewards are reflected in the conversion ratio rather than distributed as a growing number of WBETH units. The ratio should be checked when comparing a protocol redemption with a market sale.

The legacy BETH conversion is a different rule

Binance's June 2023 BSC announcement described a specific one-way BETH-to-WBETH conversion at 1:1. That historical contract operation should not be generalized into a claim that one WBETH always redeems for exactly one ETH or that all current wrapping interfaces use the same ratio.

Before acting on an old BETH balance, establish the exact asset and current official conversion route. This page explains the distinction; it does not instruct a transfer to a historical contract without a fresh check.

Compare the whole exit

A BSC DEX sale may return BNB, a stablecoin or an ETH representation on BSC. A Binance staking redemption has its own account eligibility, deposit requirements and waiting process. These routes differ in more than the rate shown beside the token.

For a hypothetical 3 WBETH position, first convert the protocol reference into ETH units using the applicable ratio. Compare that reference with the market's actual output, then account for timing and any further steps needed to reach the intended destination.

Keep the record explicit: wrapper quantity, ETH-equivalent reference, final asset contract and network. This avoids counting an ETH-linked token on BSC as immediately spendable Ethereum gas.
