BTCB is a token on BNB Smart Chain representing Bitcoin exposure. Buying BTCB produces that BSC token; selling it produces the selected output, such as a USDT representation or native BNB on BSC. An ordinary same-chain BTCB swap does not create a native Bitcoin output.
In its BTCB explanation, Binance describes a centralized, trust-based model backed by Bitcoin. That historical article explains the claim structure; its old bridge instructions and availability statements should not be treated as current operating instructions.
Identify the BSC contract
PancakeSwap's current list records Binance Pegged Bitcoin on chain 56 at 0x7130d2A12B9BCbFAe4f2634d864A1Ee1Ce3Ead9c. Confirm this identity when reviewing the quote. A different Bitcoin-named token can have a different reserve, bridge or redemption arrangement.
For a BNB-to-BTCB trade, budget native BNB for execution and keep the output on a BSC-compatible account. For a BTCB-to-stablecoin trade, identify the stablecoin representation as carefully as the input. Neither direction invokes a Bitcoin transaction solely because BTC appears in the asset name.
To sell BTCB for gas, select BTCB as input and native BNB as output. Review any required token approval and retain a way to fund execution before the BNB arrives. BSC uses native BNB for fees; a WBNB token output would not itself replenish the native gas balance.
Plan the exit before buying
If the next destination is a Bitcoin wallet, determine which service or protocol currently accepts your precise BTCB representation and supplies native BTC. Check its limits, supported networks and eligibility at that time. An ordinary token transfer to a Bitcoin address is not a substitute for that process.
There are two different comparisons: the BSC market quote for BTCB and the terms for converting a BTCB claim into another asset. They can diverge because access, liquidity and costs differ. Do not assume a reserve peg forces every secondary-market trade to execute at exact parity.
The receipt from the DEX proves what happened to the BSC token balance. It does not independently prove the current quantity or legal availability of off-chain reserves. Reserve research belongs alongside, rather than inside, the execution confirmation.
