For a same-chain BSC swap, the relevant network is BNB Smart Chain mainnet, chain ID 56. BNB Chain is an ecosystem name; it does not mean that every service using BNB shares one balance or transaction history. The official network reference identifies the mainnet independently from testnet.
Three labels that describe different things

BNB Smart Chain supports Ethereum-compatible applications. That compatibility allows familiar wallet interfaces and address formats, but it does not merge BSC with Ethereum. The BNB Chain overview identifies BSC as its own Layer 1 network and BNB as the native gas asset.
Make the network part of the trade description
Instead of recording only “swap BNB for USDT,” specify “BNB on BSC for the selected USDT contract on BSC.” This exposes a missing assumption before money moves. If the input exists on another chain, the task requires an additional transfer mechanism or an explicitly cross-chain route.
Confirm the network in three places: the wallet's selected account view, the application's quote, and the eventual transaction explorer. An account balance visible elsewhere in the wallet should not be added to the BSC spending budget.
Finally, distinguish a network change in the wallet from an asset transfer. Switching the selected network changes which ledger the wallet displays. It does not withdraw from an exchange, bridge tokens, or migrate a historical Beacon Chain balance. Those are separate operations with their own records.
