Trezor swap offers: compare the provider as well as the device

Trezor Suite distinguishes centralized and decentralized swap offers. Hardware approval secures the signature but does not make every provider an onchain DEX.

Trezor Suite’s swap interface can present different kinds of exchange service. On desktop, the current guide separates fixed-rate CEX, floating-rate CEX and DEX offers. Mobile is documented as supporting CEX swaps. The hardware device signs the transaction in either case; that does not make the settlement models identical.

These distinctions come from the current Suite guide, checked September 24, 2026. It is more useful for selection than an older generic claim that all swaps stay within one custody model.

Choose the exchange type first

A fixed-rate CEX offer holds a rate for 15 minutes under the documented conditions; a floating-rate offer uses the eventual market rate. With a CEX, read the provider’s identity-verification and refund terms before sending. The guide notes that identity verification can occasionally be requested to process a refund.

A DEX offer instead asks for an onchain trading action. The documented Suite DEX flow supports EVM networks. Token spending may require an approval; the interface offers unlimited or specific-amount permission. Native-asset handling differs.

What the device adds

Use the device to review the authorization and receiving details. Then consider the provider separately: who receives the source funds, what asset is returned, what happens if the rate expires, and who handles a failure? A correctly signed deposit to an exchange is still a deposit to that exchange.

For a DEX approval, an unlimited amount saves future setup transactions but leaves ongoing permission. That is a permission decision, not simply a cheaper swap setting.

Suite’s tracking view records a provider, Trade ID and support link. Retain them alongside the blockchain transaction reference. The trade identifier can be necessary to connect the outbound transaction to an exchange’s internal processing.

Choose Suite for the complete supported workflow you need. Do not assume its mobile and desktop offers, or its CEX and DEX offers, are substitutes just because they share a Swap label.
