lisUSD swaps: buying a token versus borrowing it

Distinguish buying lisUSD from borrowing it, and keep the stablecoin separate from LISTA governance and slisBNB staking exposure.

Buying lisUSD in a swap and borrowing lisUSD against collateral create different positions. The buyer exchanges an existing asset for a token. The borrower creates a debt position that must be managed separately from any later use or sale of the borrowed tokens.

Lista's documentation describes lisUSD as its crypto-collateralized dollar-pegged stablecoin and slisBNB as a liquid staking token linked to BNB. Similar branding does not make them interchangeable. LISTA, lisUSD and slisBNB should be identified by full name, network and contract.

A token sale does not repay a loan

Consider a hypothetical user who borrows 300 lisUSD and swaps those tokens for another asset. The wallet's lisUSD balance may fall to zero, but the debt does not disappear merely because the borrowed units changed hands. Repayment is a separate protocol action.

Conversely, someone who buys 300 lisUSD on a DEX has not automatically opened a collateralized loan. Token ownership and debt ownership are different records. This distinction is essential when interpreting a portfolio dashboard that shows both positions.

Use a market quote for a market trade

Lista's FAQ acknowledges that lisUSD can deviate from its intended dollar peg. Compare the actual output of a lisUSD-to-USDT or BNB-to-lisUSD route rather than assuming exact parity. Identify the other side's representation too; a dollar symbol is not a common reserve account shared by both tokens.

If lisUSD is intended for repayment, establish the precise current debt amount and accepted contract before buying. If it is intended for a savings or liquidity position, check whether the next action produces a separate receipt token. The final destination determines whether the swap output completes the task or only funds its next step.
