Diagnose 1inch swap estimation failures before changing parameters

An estimation failure means the application lacks a usable execution estimate for the requested transaction. Changing slippage or suppressing validation before identifying the cause can turn a diagnosable problem into a paid revert.

Build a small diagnostic record

Capture the chain, endpoint version, token addresses, integer amount, caller, recipient and selected constraints. Include a provider request identifier when returned. Remove authentication material and signatures before sending the record to telemetry or support.

Check that the caller holds the required asset and that its allowance covers the current spender and amount. Confirm that a recently approved allowance is visible at the block used by the next simulation; an RPC lag can otherwise resemble a missing approval.

Reproduce without changing the question

If transaction data is available and your infrastructure supports it, simulate the same destination, data, value and sender. Substituting a funded test account may remove the very condition that caused the failure.

Decode revert data only with a compatible interface and retain the original diagnostic bytes under an appropriate retention policy. An unrecognized custom error is more informative than an invented explanation such as “network busy.”

Choose a targeted next action

A missing balance requires funding or a different amount. A stale market route suggests a fresh quote. Unsupported token behavior may require rejecting that path. A malformed request belongs in an adapter fix.

Increasing gas limits does not repair a deterministic contract condition, and increasing slippage changes the permitted execution outcome. If a user chooses new constraints, create a fresh review instead of mutating the failed attempt in place.
