Does the 1inch API require KYC or KYB?

Yes, the current 1inch Business documentation includes identity-verification requirements. The precise question is which action you intend to perform; “1inch has no KYC” is too broad to describe commercial API access.

The subscription onboarding guide, checked September 24, 2026, says verification applies to purchasing or changing paid plans and managing API keys, including creation, rotation and deletion. It distinguishes individual KYC from company KYB. The same page says the first application creates a key automatically and that the free quota can be used after account and application creation.

Do not resolve the onboarding detail by guessing

Those statements describe an initial onboarding path and subsequent key-management actions. They should not be flattened into either “every first API request needs completed KYC” or “all free users can manage keys without verification.” Follow the portal's actual prompts for the organization and ask support if its state differs from the guide.

For a team, settle ownership before launch. The person who experiments with an API key may not be the person authorized to verify the production organization, renew a plan or rotate credentials during an incident.

Three different identity questions

• Does the retail trading interface request an identity check for the chosen service?
• Does the API business organization require KYC or KYB for the intended action?
• Does an additional fiat provider or other third party have its own onboarding?

An answer to one does not determine the others. Nor does a service without an identity-upload screen make blockchain activity private.

What a production team should document

Record the verified entity, administrators, key-management access and the route for updating company details. This is an operational dependency: if a replacement key cannot be issued promptly, a technically sound integration can still suffer an outage. Treat verification as a concrete vendor requirement, not an advertising label.
